What is the power consumption of a PC?

We Answered:

well generally speaking, about 350 watts
however, this can e controlled by the manufacuring tech- like 65 nanometers- the lower, the better energy efficent

intel new core cpu are based on 65 nm and they are planing on 45
AMD are offerimg both 65nm and 90 nm and says they well produce 45nm in2008

if you are running om pentium its probably 130 nm
from that propective new chips consume half the energy
of older ones for example, i have a pentium4 pc with 320watt
and a dedicated graphics card
while my macmini with integrated graphics is 110watt

graphics card are THE consumers
a sli or crossfire system needs a lot more, some need 1000watt
you know, another processor on the card
and a fan, a realy big one with all the new cards
so you will be more efficent if you only buy what you need
from a cpu to a gpu.

Energy efficiency of dryer on "fluff" when removing pet hair?

We Answered:

Check to see whether your electric utility provider has an appliance cost estimator. Ours does and the cost to operate a dryer varies by whether it is gas or electric and the time of year. (They charge one rate per kw and therm an hour Oct-May and another May-Oct.)

But, for this time of year, running a dryer with our rate structure on fluff (no heat) is 36 cents per 30 minute load and 45 cents per 30 minute load with heat for a gas dryer. Electric is way more expensive, 45 cents per 30 minute load no heat and 99 cents per 30 minute load with heat.

energy saving tips for airconditioner? details inside.?

We Answered:

The formula is trying to show you how to figure the monthly cost of using the air conditioner. In your case this would 519 divided by 1000, multiplied by the number of hours the air conditioner would run during the month, multiplied by the amount the power company charges for each kilowatt hour (This should appear on your electric bill).

The problem is, you don't know how many hours per month the AC will run. This will depend on how you set the thermostat, the size of the house and the outside temperature.

What Are Some Tips For Remodeling A House That Add Energy Efficiency and Value? Also Space Saving Tips?

We Answered:

I had a friend that replaced her attic fan with a solar powered fan. It was a good option since she lives in California.

You could have an energy specialist go through and take measurements of where you are using a lot of energy (drafts are a big waste of heat/AC).

They usually recommend more insulation in the attic and the basement as ways to start saving money. Replacing the old windows with energy efficient ones is easy to do but may require financing or a payment plan.

Kitchen efficiency - time? energy?

We Answered:

I always have my recipe before me. Get all my ingredients out, measuring cups and spoons out, bowls, spatulas, etc. out and ready.

Next I measure all my ingredients out and place them in small bowls and but all items back where they belong. That way my cooking space is free of all clutter.

Now I am ready to cook.
