What kind of equipment would construction people need for this job..?We Answered:
I am attacing some links to web sites so that you can browse and become familiar with the names of equipment and basics of bridge building. Before you begin the design, you will need the following information: borings or geotechnical information in the vicinity of the construction site, hydraulic design information for the river and have local weather data, so that can plan to construct in the dry season. Depending upon the size of the water body, you will need Corps of Engineers and possibly Coast Guard permits before you can begin construction. You will also need storm water permits and a storm water pollution control plan. Relocate underground utilities as needed before you begin work. It is always best to construct "in the dry", so construct a temporary diversion channel and put the water flow in the diversion channel. A tracked excavator with appropriately sized buckets would be the right tool for this job. In the dry area, you will once again use the trackhoe to excavate and place B-stone and SB-2 under the culverts. You will need to use dump trucks to bring in the stone. Then, install the culverts using the trackhoe or a crane, depending on the size of the culverts. Finally, use the trackhoe to remove the plug in the diversion channel and put the flow through the new culverts. Then you would need to put more SB-2 on top of the culverts, using the trackhoe, and then grade it with a small dozer (D-4) and then pave the top with asphalt or concrete and put pre-fabricated barrier walls on the sides.Lynn Said:

What sort of steel was used in the construction of the Sydney Harbour bridge? What other materials were used?We Answered:
Hope this info helpsThe girders are made from steel (79% imported from England and 21% from Australian sources). The pylons are made of concrete faced in granite, which was quarried near Moruya, 300km from Sydney. Around 6 million rivets and 52,800 tonnes of steelwork and 17,000 cubic metres of granite have gone into the construction of the Bridge. The bridge took 8 years to build.
