Alternative Energy Grants

Kim Said:

Are there any Canadian Grants/Tax Benifits for installing and using Green Energy sources in your home?

We Answered:

There are grants, but they aren't huge by any means... This is a search on the Canadian government's website:

http://recherche-search.gc.ca/s_r?t3mpl1…

If it doesn't work, go to http://www.canada.gc.ca/home.html , click "search", and enter, "energy grant".

Jeffrey Said:

Are there grants to purchase land for solar farms and natural energy alternatives?

We Answered:

Maybe not grants, but almost all solar and wind power built has been built with subsidies using tax dollars. It is NOT cost effective when the total cost is used, so there would be none, or very little anywhere in this country.

I'm and engineer and worked in west Texas for some time in the middle of thousands of wind generators being constructed. The engineers working for the companies told me without subsidies from the government, they would not be there because they could not get any investors otherwise.

Herman Said:

where can I find grants to help build a wind turbine?

We Answered:

Forget about grants. If you want it bad enough you will get off your lazy butt and earn the money to build one. Why should someone else pay for you to have a wind turbine?

Rodney Said:

Does anyone know of grant programs to convert my older home to alternative energy?

We Answered:

The first step is to weatherize (i nsulate ) your home there are grants in most cities to do this . Also there are renuable energy grants and tax credits for energy effecient heating , cooling & insulation through the end of 2007.
One easy conversion is to install a solar water heater.
Also consider passive solar space heating.

Shelly Said:

Where can I get grants/low interest loans to start a biotech/alternative energy company?

We Answered:

Go to http://www.grants.gov for a list of government grants and how you can apply for them. However, there are no grants for a for profit business unless you are opening a daycare and then it is a minimal amount. If you need money, you will need to apply for a loan. No lender will talk to you unless you provide them with a valid business plan. Go to http://www.sba.gov , http://www.score.org or http://www.bplan.com for sample business plans and instructions on how to write a business plan.

Then, go to http://www.score.org/ and in the upper left hand corner, enter your zip code. On the next screen, you will get information on the nearest SCORE chapter. Call them and arrange for a free meeting with a SCORE counselor to review your business plan and discuss various loan options available to you.

SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

SCORE has 389 chapters in locations throughout the United States and its territories, with 10,500 volunteers nationwide. Both working and retired executives and business owners donate time and expertise as business counselors.
